Charles A. Fishkin is the Director of Risk Management for North America at AllianceBernstein LP.

Before joining AllianceBernstein, he held a senior position at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington DC, where he was the first Director of the Office of Risk Assessment, which was established to help anticipate emerging risks in the securities markets. He served at the SEC from July 2004 until January 2007, reporting directly to the Chairman of SEC.

He helped establish the IAFE’s Operational Risk Committee, and served as its co-chair from its inception in 2001 to until 2004.  He resumed his role as co-chair in 2007. He has been a past member of the board of directors of the IAFE.

He is also the author of a book on risk management, The Shape of Risk:  A New Look at Risk Management (Palgrave Macmillan). He earned a BA in economics from The University of Chicago.
