Event: ´The Recent Experience with Risk in Hedge Funds´
Date: October 17
Time: 5:30 pm
Location:
TIAA-CREF
730 Third Avenue
17th Floor Atrium
Description: In a discussion of her recent experience in hedge funds, Ms. Beder will be covering the following issues:
The evolution of the hedge fund business.
The year in review and what it teaches us about hedge funds. Specifically, how and why different hedge fund strategies are successful. This past year has seen an extraordinary number of strategies that have experienced tail events relative to the prior decade. An appropriate analogy seems to be a shooting gallery with different hedge fund types as the targets that are taken down month after month.
Risk management for hedge funds, especially in light of this year’s experience.
Tanya Styblo Beder is a Managing Director of Caxton Associates, LLC, a multi billion investment management firm, where she heads the Strategic Quantitative Investments Division. Prior to Caxton, Ms. Beder had over 20 years of Wall Street experience as President of Capital Market Advisors and as a Vice President of The First Boston Corporation. In 1997 Euromoney named Ms. Beder as one of the top 50 women in finance around the world. Ms. Beder is currently on the faculty of Yale University School of Management. She is also the Chairman of the IAFE.
