Program Description
The Berkeley Finance Series is a program designed for investment professionals looking to enhance both their theoretical knowledge and modeling skills for pricing, hedging, trading and portfolio management decisions. The program curriculum and case studies emphasize the practical applications of the topics covered. The Series is taught by the same faculty who teach in the UC Berkeley's Masters in Financial Engineering Program (MFE)- ranked Number 1 in the world.

This week is full of tools and applications for you to uncover the building blocks of derivative securities. You will learn how to engineer and price exotic options, such as barrier options, interest rate derivatives, energy and commodity options, to name just a few.
Fixed Income Securities: Bonds, ABS and Risk Management

Our world-class faculty will take you to the boundary of current knowledge on the building and pricing of fixed income securities and term structure modeling. You will learn to build structured fixed income products as well as evaluate the risk of asset-backed securities using practical case studies and problem solving exercises.
Optional Saturday Workshop: Hedge Funds and Alternative Investments

This one-day workshop will benefit investment professionals who want to gain a thorough understanding of hedge funds and alternative investments to better assess and manage their investment strategy.
Faculty Director
Richard Stanton is an Associate Professor in Finance at the Haas School of Business, U.C. Berkeley. His research and teaching interests include mortgage markets, term structure modeling, mutual funds, and the valuation and hedging of derivative securities. Before his graduate work, Professor Stanton worked in consulting at Bain and Company, advising clients on acquisition valuation and the impact on their business of financial market deregulation. His recent consulting work includes implementing fixed-income derivatives pricing algorithms for one of the top financial software firms in the U.S., developing lease valuation algorithms for a large commercial property management.
